In line with our conscious efforts towards improving gender diversity in Technical areas we introduced Women Of Mettle for T School Campuses. This is the 7th Season of Tata Steel’s Women Of Mettle - a pioneering scholarship programme of Tata Steel aimed to induct bright young women engineers into the manufacturing sector. Women Of Mettle is an intellectual marathon where young minds embark on journey and rise to technical challenges. It gives students the opportunity to experience diverse cross-functional challenges, as well as access to Tata Steel’s senior management who act as tutors and mentors.

Women Of Mettle is among the various campus connect programmes introduced by Tata Steel that are aimed at encouraging bright young minds in engineering and management institutes to hone their intellect in areas such as research & development, operational excellence, business strategy and management, etc. The idea is to foster a collaborative environment among students, academia and the corporate sector and provide unique and aspiring career opportunities to the young talent of India.

The Top 50 shortlisted teams will be invited to submit and present their analysis on real-life technical challenges and thereafter the Top 10 will be selected to compete in the Grand Finale.

Rewards

Scholars will be entitled for a scholarship amount of ₹2,00,000/- over the duration of the course. As per Income Tax Act, the amount is eligible for Tax Deduction at source. In case of Team entries, the scholarship amount eligible after-Tax Deduction at source, will be equally divided amongst the scholars.

The candidate will have the opportunity to join Tata Steel as a Technical Intern, and subsequently a Pre-Placement Offer / Pre-Placement Interview (PPO / PPI) will be extended accordingly

The candidates will also be invited to attend all paid technical conferences, summer internship in the 3rd year of study

PPO will be extended to the Scholar, upon completion of her Engineering degree, only if the Scholar is able to perform during the offered internship, and is found suitable (this is applicable for scholars who have participated in Teams as well) The scholarship amount would be extended for the 2 years of her remaining Engineering degree, only if the Scholar is in the Top 25% of her course in every semester

The candidates from CS/IT domain will have the opportunity to join Tata Steel as MT Systems & the candidates from rest of the domains will have the opportunity to join Tata Steel as MT Technical post successful completion of summer internship

No, the institute will not be involved in the evaluation.

The link to upload presentations will be deactivated after the deadline.

The submission for the pre-screening round must only be a presentation (ppt format, maximum 12 slides) that covers the following:
• Executive Summary
• Introduction to the problem statement
• Analysis of the problem
• Recommendations
• The presentation format for final round will be communicated to the shortlisted candidates

Evaluation of the entries would be based on their practical applicability and feasibility to implement.

The idea can be used basis feasibility and ease of implementation.

It is open to the list of only select institutes.

Tata Steel would prefer if the slide content is within the prescribed range.

The evaluations are confidential and at the discretion of the panel of judges.

All decisions are final and binding and cannot be contested.

No, Annexures should be added during the initial round. However, during the final presentations, it would be mandatory to submit annexures along with the final presentation.

Scholar must rank amongst 25% for the respective stream, post their selection in every subsequent semester. Scholars would not get the opportunity to appear in Selection / interview process for any other company in campus. (in case of team participation, the scholarship amount eligible after-Tax Deduction at source, will be equally divided amongst the scholars)

Tata Steel will pay Rs. 25,000/- each in third and final year. The balance amount of Rs. 1,50,000/- will be paid at the time of joining Tata Steel Ltd.
