Tata Steel is back with season 8 of Women of Mettle Scholarship. Female students in their second year at a technical school can demonstrate their engineering skills in smarter steelmaking. Winners will get a chance to join the Management Trainee Technical Cadre, undergo training for a year, and then potentially join the Tata Steel family.

Rewards
Scholars will be entitled for a scholarship amount of ₹2,00,000/- over the duration of the course. As per Income Tax Act, the amount is eligible for Tax Deduction at source. In case of Team entries, the scholarship amount eligible after-Tax Deduction at source, will be equally divided amongst the scholars.
The candidate will have the opportunity to join Tata Steel as a Technical Intern, and subsequently a Pre-Placement Offer / Pre-Placement Interview (PPO / PPI) will be extended accordingly
The candidates will also be invited to attend all paid technical conferences, summer internship in the 3rd year of study
PPO will be extended to the Scholar, upon completion of her Engineering degree, only if the Scholar is able to perform during the offered internship, and is found suitable (this is applicable for scholars who have participated in Teams as well) The scholarship amount would be extended for the 2 years of her remaining Engineering degree, only if the Scholar is in the Top 25% of her course in every semester
The candidates from CS/IT domain will have the opportunity to join Tata Steel as MT Systems & the candidates from rest of the domains will have the opportunity to join Tata Steel as MT Technical post successful completion of summer internship

Women passing out in the year 2026 with a B. Tech / BE in Computer science/ IT / Electrical / Electronics / Mechanical / Metallurgy / Mining / Mining Machinery / Mineral Processing / Chemical / Civil Engineering / Ceramic Engineering / Environment in the T-School
To remain eligible for the scholarship, candidates need to rank amongst the top 25% of their respective streams with no backlogs (in case of Team entries, both the candidates need to rank amongst the top 25% of their respective streams with no backlogs )
The participating team can have 1 or 2 members only.
In case of a team registration comprising of 2 members, both the members must be from the same institute
A student can only be in one team
Only Mentioned college students are eligible for the event
Cross-specialization teams are not allowed

No, the institute will not be involved in the evaluation.
The link to upload presentations will be deactivated after the deadline.
The submission for the pre-screening round must only be a presentation (ppt format, maximum 12 slides) that covers the following:
• Executive Summary
• Introduction to the problem statement
• Analysis of the problem
• Recommendations
• The presentation format for final round will be communicated to the shortlisted candidates
Evaluation of the entries would be based on their practical applicability and feasibility to implement.
The idea can be used basis feasibility and ease of implementation.
It is open to the list of only select institutes.
Tata Steel would prefer if the slide content is within the prescribed range.
The evaluations are confidential and at the discretion of the panel of judges.
All decisions are final and binding and cannot be contested.
No, Annexures should be added during the initial round. However, during the final presentations, it would be mandatory to submit annexures along with the final presentation.

Scholar must rank amongst 25% for the respective stream, post their selection in every subsequent semester. Scholars would not get the opportunity to appear in Selection / interview process for any other company in campus. (in case of team participation, the scholarship amount eligible after-Tax Deduction at source, will be equally divided amongst the scholars)
Tata Steel will pay Rs. 25,000/- each in third and final year. The balance amount of Rs. 1,50,000/- will be paid at the time of joining Tata Steel Ltd.
